On the Job Assignments

Narrative Assignments that were reconfigured design tests for real world job applications.

Silent World- Narrative

“Tell a whole story, without the use of any other characters or any other things we'd have to animate. This is just about setting, and the story of the setting. The player can move through the story space but there won't be any moving objects or people.”

Town Population- Narrative Design Document

“Populate this town in our wild west RPG, working title ‘Vendetta."‘ Please Include:

  • 5 NPCs with backstory, identity and motives whom the PC can meet, befriend, make enemies of and/or romance.

  • 8 NPCs with whom the PC can have brief interactions to find out more about the town, Chacon, or to influence them to the PC's cause. They should have a brief backstory, relationship to the town, and a handful of dominant motives or interests.

  • 10 miscellaneous NPCs. These are flavor NPCs and should just be part of the scenery of the town. They'll have a couple of barks of greeting or flavor conversations between themselves to help create Liberty's environment.”

Omericon- Narrative

“The RPG is called Omericon, and is a ‘paranoid fantasy of swashbuckling and magic.’ In this world, the player will try to rise to a position of wealth and power as a courtier and musketeer, even as secret forces try to take over the world and control all magic.”

Rhythmix Design Test- Narrative

“Pick an album you like and provide an overview of a narrative structure used to present that album.”

Modern Arthur Quests- Narrative Design Document

“This is a modern day King Arthur tale. It can be dystopic or romantic or both, but it takes place in the ‘modern age,’ with cars and planes and people and computers and cell phones.

"They have come to this small town on the central coast of California because supposedly among the redwoods and beaches, is Excalibur. In this coastal area they will or will not find Excalibur, and another knight, who may or may not join them. They will also encounter evidence of Mordred for the first time, and that Mordred may (or may not) be working against them.”
